Solar Potential Estimation: In-Situ Veritas

CUBE is the first service integrating a measurement cabin to refine and validate energy production potential.

MEASUREMENT CABIN

Collecting meteorological data

Autonomous, secure, and turnkey, the measurement cabin is installed for 12 months at the future photovoltaic power plant site.

Installed without prior administrative declaration (D.P) and in parallel with the impact study, the measurement cabin continuously collects all relevant data from the studied site (irradiance, temperature, soiling, etc.). Using the collected meteorological data, it corrects uncertainties in satellite databases. This process, called calibration, provides an estimation of energy production potential closest to reality.

Calibration

Calibrating satellite data

Calibration is performed by correcting historical satellite data using the on-site measurement campaign.

The CUBE service enables the calibration of satellite databases used to establish a typical meteorological year of irradiance. Calibration is performed by correcting historical satellite data using the on-site measurement campaign. The systematic difference between on-site observation and satellite observation is qualified, and an algorithm processes the data to correct the bias.

A more reliable yield

Refining the P50 and reducing the P50/P90 ratio

CalibSun has designed a measurement cabin and developed an innovative algorithm to conduct representative campaigns and secure the Yield report.

The Yield Report quantifies the expected production for a given site. It presents the P50 and P90 values of production, detailing the variability and uncertainty associated with each characteristic (irradiance, temperature, soiling, electrical losses, etc.). It forms the basis of the project's economic model and is a key element for investors, banks, and stakeholders (experts, technical advisors, etc.). The P90 is the reference value for banks to size the debt, so the higher the P90, the greater the developer's borrowing capacity. The P50 allows investors to assess project profitability.

It is therefore essential to minimize the gap between estimation and reality as it can be particularly harmful in the medium to long term. That is why CalibSun has designed a measurement cabin to conduct representative one-year campaigns and developed an innovative calibration algorithm capable of removing systematic errors in satellite data history to obtain a P50 closest to reality and a P90 closest to P50.

Get a robust P50 and maximized P90

With our ready-to-use measurement cabin, we ensure a one-year measurement campaign in parallel with the impact study to calibrate satellite databases. You obtain a Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) with reduced uncertainty to the minimum.

Uncertainty can be reduced from 3% to 0.5%, the P90/P50 ratio reduced by about 1.5%, ensuring the economic viability of your project.
